Ambrosia Bakery's Strawberry Farmer...

Who would have thought that a cake like The Ambrosia's "Fresh Strawberry Cake" would become as popular as it has? We sure didn't but, we are glad that it has!  It is hands down the most popular cake that we make here at the bakery!  The "secret family recipe" is closely guarded and for obvious reasons...  

We strive to use local farmers to supply us our strawberries for the Fresh Strawberry Cake.  In order for us to be able to offer it year-round we are forced to buy them from California and Florida during the winter months.  It wasn't that long ago that we would get six or eight flats a day or every other day.  That number has increased to in the hundreds of flats per week!  It keeps a full staff of employees busy.  Easter and Mother's Day are two of the busiest holiday's for Fresh Strawberry Cakes however, it has picked up just about every weekend. 

We recently visited our local farmer (Landry-Poche Farms) this past weekend in Springfield Louisiana where they had a "Strawberry Fun Day".  It was very exciting to see how beautiful the farm is that supplies us our strawberries!  The kids had a blast picking their own strawberries, getting their face painted and playing on the inflatables.
