Children's Miracle Network FIESTA Fund Raiser - May 12th 2011

For 9 years The Ambrosia Bakery has been participating in this incredible event.  A fund raiser for the Our Lady of The Lake Children's Miracle Network. This Thursday May 12th we had the privilege to attend again and provide all the desserts.  It was Hosted by LSU Head Coach Les and Kathy Miles at the Governor's Mansion of Governor Bobby Jindal & Supriya Jindal.

The event was spectacular and extremely well organized.   There were dozens of pieces of original Artwork that was donated for the Silent Auction as well as autographed LSU footballs, LSU jerseys, LSU helmets and even a framed and autographed jersey by Lance Armstrong!

As a Grand Finale of the event there was a LIVE Auction!  Some of the items included an original large painting of two LSU football helmets on canvas that brought several thousands of dollars.  Wine tasting for sixteen people that brought over three thousand dollars.  A weekend for two with 50 yard line tickets to a SAINTS game.  An ultimate football experience to attend the LSU vs. Auburn game!  There was much more auctioned that brought tens of thousands of dollars to an incredible cause!

The most heart warming part of this event was hearing from the parents of young Dayton.  He couldn't be more than four of five years old when he was riding his power wheels toy at their home when a friend was leaving and ran over little Dayton with his pickup truck.  To see the trauma this young family had to go though gives you a lump in your throat and brings tears to you eyes.  Dayton was brought to OLOL hospital with severe head trauma.  With lots of prayers and the excellent doctors on staff they were able to save Dayton's life.  Today he is running around playing with his younger brother and has some limited mobility his right arm.  He is making a great recovery!

It is events like this that allow the hospital to be able to help so many.  Look for this event next year and if you can participate the money will go to a great cause!  You may even get to take your picture with Coach Les Miles!
